McClure Elementary
History: James A. McClure Elementary was named for a prominent Topekan who distinguished himself in many ways.
Professionally, he was a practicing attorney and a Shawnee County District Court Judge. For twelve years, from
1929 to 1941, he served as a member of the Topeka Board of Education. He was an instructor at Washburn University School of Law for several years.

The mission of McClure is to prepare all students academically and socially to be effective citizens in a culturally diverse society.
